I offer counselling for mild to moderate mental health issues, chronic health conditions, grief, as well as for other life challenges. I completed my Masters Of Education (Couns) in 2006.
I have a strong interest and professional experience in trauma, chronic health conditions, grief, and behavioural activation work. I welcome self-referrals and also those from other professionals, including GPs and social workers.
I am an ACC ISSC provider and WINZ provider (only accepting Social Work ACC referrals at present).
When working together with clients, I interweave the different approaches that I am trained in, such as:
- Solution Focus Therapy
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
- Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
- Motivational Interviewing
- Narrative Therapy
- Affect Regulation Training
- Adventure Therapy
I like to be creative and flexible in my counselling approach. Integral to this is utilising my client’s expertise when working towards client goals.
Over the past 16 years, I have worked in either social work or counselling roles in primary health care (medical centre), secondary healthcare (Outpatients CDHB), secondary schools, community, and private practice, as well as tutoring and being a guest lecturer at the University of Canterbury and Ara.
